The 20th Party Congress of the Communist Party of India (M) is on this week in Calicut / Kozhikode. The entire city is decked red, with buntings, banners, and a good dose of love from Russia (and Cuba and Germany)
replete with socialist realism imagery….tackling the American imperialist eagle, while the poor of India look on. (what???)
and here’s the gem our Indian “socialist realism” artists came up with. The iconic image of Krishna leading Arjuna to the war, setting up the scene for narrating the Bhagwat Gita takes a red tinge here. Marx leads Lenin. Das Kapital replaces the Gita.
Bottom line: The world (and communism) is an illusion. 🙂
