Shadow Shot Sunday #14 (57)

An old photo on a brand new Sunday.

I took this photo some two months back. I’d just begun to participate in SSS, and it was as if i had new eyes to spot shadows.

These guys are playing carrom at the end of a long day. Carrom is a favorite game in this part of the world with Indian players right at the top at the international level. The winner in the women’s category at the World Championship in France ’08,Β  was I. Illamvazhagi, from India. There is more to this country than cricket πŸ˜‰

(though our apathy of sports and sports persons is nothing worth writing about :()

Enjoy your weekend everyone!
Drop in at Hey Harriet for some wonderful shadows from around the world.

  1. Isn’t it wonderful when you really begin to look for and discover shadows? It’s just so much fun and opens you up to a whole new world! I love your shot, great perspective and composition! Enjoy your weekend!

I agree with you both – I now have a huge backlog of shadow shots for when the sun doesn’t shine. I love this one though – very interesting.

  3. Jacqui says:

Oops – I am not anonymous – sorry.

What a neat photo. Amazing where we find shadows, now that we started this with Hey Harriet.
    Happy SSS.

What an amazing shot. I love how dark and atmospheric it is. It gives the feeling of this Carrom game (which I’ve never heard of btw) being very serious business. Like a game of poker where somebody has just risked their house on a hand they believe will win! Oh the tension!

  6. Yes, we’ve never heard of Carrom either – it seems everyone is very absorbed by the game! Love the shadows the bright light from the board is casting!

This is a wonderful atmospheric shot. Dark and edgy! Great job!

  9. Were you on a balcony above? Obviously you did not disturb their concentration!

  10. Dorte says:

I never heard of Carrom before either… it looks kind of secretive – I guess because of these long shadows from the center of the table. Great shot πŸ™‚

Very interesting shot! Such long shadows… I think a science fiction story is waiting to be told here somewhere.

  12. Sherrie says:

    Hi!
Great shadows. I am always looking for shadows now. It’s amazing where we find them! Have a great day!
