Women. Godesses.

You know what they say about women and pedestals. And of course about God being a woman 🙂

I spotted this row of goddesses in a house in village Chinchwadi this morning.

India’s political Goddess, the late PM Ms. Indira Gandhi graces this shrine in village Khor as well.

One of my favorite goddess Savitribai Phule finds space in most schools, girls’ hostels, women polytechnics….and hearts.

In village Ghegaon, the prize-winning women’s group got themselves clicked, framed and on to a nail.

Some women of course continue to remain pretty grounded. 🙂

    thanks abhipraya!

[i confess that i let my politics get better of my photography in this post. i did not put up a picture of a certain woman considered a “goddess” in these parts. 😦 ]

There’s a saying..heaven is at the foot of one’s mother. They are all beautiful in every way and I love them in sari..I must say we hardly see ours here in Sari, except on Deepavali. Happy weekend.

Yes M, women look quite elegant in a sari…(though i avoid it if it can be helped) 🙂

btw, the ladies in the last photo are wearing a nine-yard sari called the ‘Navaari’. Its worn differently than the regular style, tucked between the legs, and is quite comfortable to work in – especially in the fields.

aha tell us who was left out 😛

    • whizkid says:

The much revered (at least in these parts) Jijabai. (Shivaji’s mother)

well, cat’s out of the bag 🙂

This gets more interesting. Lets take it off line and you tell me why left her out? I don’t feel one way or the other bout the lady btw.
